ANSI B16 47 series A flanges is stronger, heavier and thicker than flanges of ANSI B16 47 series B, where the same pressure rating and size is concerned. Series B ANSI B16 47 flanges require more fasteners, but smaller ones, as compared to Series A. Series A flanges ANSI B16 47 has the capacity to withstand more external loading than that of series B ANSI B16 47.
